Laura Silva brings more than a decade of experience in visual communications, strategy, and operational management to her role as Director of Operations at MYS Firm. With a diverse portfolio that includes statewide media campaigns, political promotions, and high-profile projects, she has honed her expertise in both creative and operational roles.

As Director of Operations, Laura is responsible for optimizing processes, overseeing administrative functions, and developing operational strategies that align with the firm’s strategic goals. She collaborates closely with MYS’ President to implement scalable systems that support growth while upholding the company’s values and high standards of quality.

In addition to her operational responsibilities, Laura also oversees HR functions, project management, financial oversight, and brand development. Her focus is on fostering a positive, accountable company culture that emphasizes professional growth, teamwork, and operational excellence. She is committed to ensuring MYS remains dedicated to making a positive social impact by incorporating continuous learning and feedback into every aspect of the firm’s operations.

Joining MYS in 2016 as Managing Member, Laura discovered her passion for purposeful design. This commitment led to her evolution into a broader leadership role as Director of Operations, where she now drives the company’s growth, efficiency, and profitability.

Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from San Diego State University, a certification in Strategic Online Marketing from the University of San Diego, and a Master of Arts in Social Innovation from the University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies.

Needs to be updated to reflect a new role

Laura has dedicated more than a decade to executing both print and digital visual communication. Her portfolio includes an impressive list of design elements including statewide media campaigns, political promotions, as well as the production of the Las Vegas “Key to the City”. After receiving her Bachelor’s in Graphic Design from San Diego State University, Laura returned to school to meet the digital environment demands and attained a certification in Strategic Online Marketing from the University of San Diego. It was after becoming a Managing Member at M.Y.S. in 2016 that she discovered her passion to provide visual communication that created positive social impact. As a result, she again returned to school and earned her Master of Arts in Social Innovation (MASI) from the University of San Diego, Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies.

Her graduate studies focused on the root problems that cause disadvantaged communities to lack resources. From this, Ms. Silva carried forward four basic principles to her leadership role within M.Y.S., which are now incorporated into all design processes:

  1. We acknowledge systemic racism,
  2. We have the responsibility to self-reflect,
  3. We will always do our best to avoid doing harm, and
  4. We work with, not for, audiences to make the biggest social impact.

Laura believes that we all must embrace discomfort and work collectively to advocate for power shifts to promote equity. She is dedicated to ensuring that M.Y.S. attempts to leave the world a better place than we found it through continuous learning and feedback, every day.
